The statue embodies the symbolic relationship between God and the king, Amun by giving Tutankhamun the legitimacy of rule and divine protection. Amun, the "Hidden One," was the supreme King of the Gods in ancient Egypt, representing the invisible power of the air and wind. Originally a local deity of Thebes, he eventually merged with the sun god to become Amun-Ra. Often depicted wearing a crown with two tall plumes or as a ram, he was the divine patron of the Pharaohs and the heart of the Great Temple of Karnak.
