This statue depicts Tutankhamun in the form of Shu, the god of air who separated the sky from the earth at the moment of creation. The king stands with raised arms in the traditional pose of Shu, symbolically supporting the heavens. By assuming this divine role, Tutankhamun is presented as a cosmic sustainer, reinforcing his authority as ruler and his intimate connection with the forces that maintain universal order.
