The Vulture Necklace belonged to Tutankhamun, who probably wore the necklace in his lifetime. The vulture represents the goddess Nekhbet, tutelary deity of Tutankhamun as King of Upper Egypt. In its talons the vulture is holding symbols called Shen. These stood for encirclement, or infinity, or eternity. They help to ensure the king will live forever
