Amarna Art

Amarna period art is a special style from ancient Egypt created over 3,000 years ago by King Akhenaten. He changed Egypt's religion to worship just one god, the sun, and he wanted art to look completely different too. Before this, Egyptian art was very stiff, formal, and always showed kings looking strong and perfect. Amarna art broke those rules by showing the royal family in relaxed, loving, everyday moments, like playing with their children. The artists also changed how they drew bodies. Instead of perfect muscles, they gave people long heads, thin arms, big bellies, and wide hips. The most famous artwork from this time is the beautiful, realistic bust of Queen Nefertiti. This unique style was very brief, and Egypt went back to its traditional art style soon after the king died.
